The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first visit around age seven. By then most kids have a mix of baby and adult teeth, which lets Dr. Ogden catch problems with jaw growth or spacing while they are still easy to guide. Most kids do not need anything at that visit. At your consultation he will tell you which one fits your bite and how noticeable you want treatment to be. Some smiles finish better in braces and others in aligners, and you will hear which one before you spend anything.
